Want to Help?

Pei People Shar Pei Rescue is in continuous need of the following:

  • Foster volunteers (take a dog into your home short or long term)
  • Transportation volunteers (drive a dog from point A to point B)
  • Donations for vet bills (all dogs are spayed or neutered prior to placement and often other medical attention is needed)
  • Donations for kenneling costs (when no fostering is available)

Please note that Pei People Shar Pei Rescue is not a registered non-profit organization and
as such donations are not considered tax-deductible for Federal income tax purposes.   We hope to file for our non-profit status soon, but wanted to make sure everyone understood our current situation.

In Need of Adoption

Bosco

Featured in OC Register Feb 2008! Click Here

Meet a true gentleman!  Bosco is 3-4 years old.  He is a neutered male, chocolate Chinese Shar Pei mix. This distinguished and sleek (and really soft!) coated dog is elegant and calm. He walks perfectly at your side, responds politely and promptly when you ask him to sit, and will offer his paw if you ask for that too. With his wrinkled brow, he looks very studious as he attends to his very important, self appointed task of sniffing all his surroundings.

He is not really a 'cat' fan, so a home without cats would be ideal.  He is good with other dogs (he loves the ladies) and is generally the submissive one.   He does loves food and treats (you don't want to be leaving food on the counters with Bosco around...) but he does understand and obeys 'no' when told.

He is in excellent health, neutered, weighs 50 pounds, and is ready to go home with you today!

Zeus

This is Zeus.  He is a 3-4 year old male Shar Pei.    He has demodex (very treatable) which makes his skin look bad (for now).  He needs  a home where they will care for him with high quality food and love to help get his coat back into shape.  He is a cream color.  He does favor one leg due to an old injury, but that in no way stops him.  I don't think he will be a jogging companion, but he loves to play and run around in the yard - it doesn't seem to bother him at all.

He sleeps willingly in a crate, is very affectionate, only barks when he needs to go out and potty and is a real love around people and other dogs.  He also appears to be good with cats!

Got Ink??

Another way to donate is by collecting used ink cartridges from your printer, cell phones or larger toner cartridges from business printers.
We participate in a program that pays Pei People for our collection and recycling efforts!

Please email us if you'd like to make a donation of these items.   We can provide you with pre-paid shipping labels and/or pre-paid envelopes.

In Memory

We said goodbye to our friend Boots this week...He left his beloved human, Robert, and his adopted brother, Silly, due to a sudden hear attack.  Some of you may remember that Boots had spent several long months in an LA animal shelter patiently waiting for a home. Robert's dedication to Boots and his refusal to let him be euthanized due to a mis-labelled aggression problem finally led them to become a family.  We will remember Boots as a beautiful soul who taught us that even a short time on earth is sometimes enough if you know how much you are loved.

Miss Princess

Featured in OC Register April 2008.  Click Here.

The fabulous "Miss P" is a  Shar Pei ( and Beagle?) mix puppy, just under 1 year old.  She is good with cats, kids and dogs.  She loves to play and amuses herself with toys.   Miss P is spayed and microchipped and is up to date on all vaccines.  She is housebroken and knows how to sit.  She is very active and loving.  She needs a new home now!

Pleaes email us at info@peipeople.com if you can foster or adopt Miss P!

Beau (or Bo)

Beau is a 12-18 month old male cream colored Shar Pei.   He is good with other dogs and is probably a 'mini' (about 35-40 pounds at most).  He will be neutered and up to date on shots before adoption.

Beau is quiet (not a barker) and playful - he loves to lick and bounce around and everyone that crosses his path falls in love!  He is in need of entropian surgery for his eyes.  But what he needs most is a loving home!

Update:  We've found that Beau is quite a baseball fan!  His foster family's kids have found he has quite a knack for fielding and retrieving baseballs.  If you are an Angels fan (or any team for that matter) or have a little league player, Beau might be the perfect companion for batting practice or just watching the game!

Flower

This is a GORGEOUS longer-haired brush coat female Shar Pei.  She is about 2-3 years old, and she is a lovely cream color.    She is probably a mini as she is only 35 pounds.

She is housetrained and very loving. She likes to play with toys and explore.  She gets along very well with other dogs and sleeps nicely in a crate.   She is rubbing her eyes and they will need to be monitored for entropian.

In Need of Adoption

Leilah

Leilah is an approximately 4 year old chocolate colored Shar Pei female.  She is in need of a family who can give her the TLC she hasn't gotten recently.  She is good with other dogs and with people.  She is in need of entropian (eyelid) surgery and is currently being treated with eye ointment.  She will be spayed and up to date on shots prior to adoption.  Her coat is not gorgeous at the moment, but with some good quality food she is expected to transform just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman!

Renday

Renday has had a rough life...she was abandoned, pregnant!, in a Target parking lot.  She had 3 puppies 2 days after being found and her foster family (see below) kept her while she nursed her puppies.  The puppies were adopted but no one wanted to adopt poor Renday.  We have no idea why - she is cute and adorable and follows you around like a good loyal Shar Pei!

My foster parents LOVED me.  They wanted any potential adopter to know
what is great about me...

"She really is THE BEST DOG!!  My 2 kids and I messed with her all the time and she never had an issue.  The best part is that she's completely potty trained.  She has better manners than my own dogs.  I would keep her in a second, but my pack does not get along with others.  Don't miss the chance to own the best dog!!!"

Renday is an approximately 2-4 year old spayed female (shelter said 4, but our private vet says probably no more than 2).  She is housetrained, loves to play, is great with kids and is up to date on shots  and microchipped.  She is very strong on leash, is a great protector, chases cats, and can be picky with other dogs. She is about 38 pounds.

Star

Star is a shar pei mix (not sure with what).  She is about 40 pounds and is spayed and up to date on shots.   Her coat is very soft and she is very loving.  She will curl up beside you and loves to be pet.  She likes to play with toys and is learning to play fetch consistently.  She is housetrained and sits for treats.    She has been in a shelter for over 6 months, so while she is good with people, she may be leary of other dogs.
