In Need of Adoption

Angel is a 6 year old fawn female shar pei.  She was found as a stray in a desert shelter and she is WONDERFUL.  Good with people, dogs, cats and kids.  She is not a barker, walks well on a leash and is a happy soul.   She is good around other dogs, but doesn't necessarily play with them (aloof).  She plays with toys.

Angel is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

Reagan is a 5-7 year old female shar pei.  She has a great color somewhere between fawn and chocolate.  She came into a southern California shelter as a stray.  She was just spayed and had entropion eyelid surgery (photo is before surgery).  Reagan is a happy wiggly girl that loves to cuddle.  She is good around other dogs.  She does not see well right now and we are hoping with time, now that she's had eyelid surgery, some of her vision will return.   Reagan is very relaxed and quiet.

Lenny is an probably a 7 year old shar pei that found as a stray in Phoenix. He is great with other dogs but can be food reactive due to his limited vision. His eyesight is poor due to long standing untreated entropian. He loves to snuggle and give kisses. He is good on a leash and loves going for walks. He is looking for his forever home that will finally give him all the love and attention he missed in the first 7 years of his life! Are you looking for the perfect "Old Man" Lenny is your guy!

Jarven is a 1 year old male shar pei.  He passed all his temperament tests at the shelter - good with dogs, good around food.  He walks well on a leash and rides calmly in a car.  He is also non-reactive to other dogs (probably quite good with them).   He came from Las Vegas shelter and is looking for a forever home!  He is being treated for an ear infection, and his eyes look great.
He knows sit, shake and will even roll over for a treat!!! Jarven is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Blossom is a 10 month old female fawn shar pei.  She is being treated for skin issues after being rescued from the shelter.  Blossom is pure puppy. She is curious about everything and very playful. She is a cuddle bug, but dont let that cute face fool you, she thinks she is the boss! We are working on basic commands, but she is definitely a Shar Pei, stubborn! Her coat, what she has of it, is super soft. She is house trained and does very well in a crate.   Blossom will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.

Nelly is an approximately 5 year old female shar pei/ boxer? mix.  She is small at just around 40 pounds.  She is very sweet - never aggressive.  She is great with other dogs and shy around people.  Because she is timid, she'd prefer a home without small kids (they move a little unpredictably for her - but she's never shown aggression, just hides)  She is not a barker and is great on a leash.  She is house trained, but really never picked up on a doggie door (we suspect she would if there were other dogs in the house).  She rides really well in the car, will sit to have nails clipped or ears cleaned.  They don't come much easier than Nelly.

Reggie is a handsome fawn male shar pei. He was rescued from the shelter, after being treated for rat poisoning (no long term effects) and is now available for adoption. He is neutered, chipped and vaccinated.

Foster report:  Reggie took a couple of days to warm up, but once he did he is very loving and playful. He will want to be by your side and give kisses. Although he wants to be alpha dog, he is not aggressive. He will back down when challenged. He is currently with two other males, and two females and plays with all of them. He is house trained. Reggie knows "sit" and will give pawshakes if you ask for his paw. He is very smart, and would certainly learn other commands quickly. He can have a little separation anxiety, but he does well in a crate. This guy just wants to be loved!

He is very outgoing and loves kids, too.  He is not good with cats.

Willow is a 2 year old female blue brushcoat shar pei.  She is on the smaller side and was recently rescued from a Las Vegas area shelter.   She is very sweet and friendly - great with adults and kids.  Willow can be good with other dogs, but only after a slow introduction.  Her first reaction with new dogs is to walk up and bite them, so she is not going to be a good choice to interact with lots of new dogs (dog park, coffee shop, walking in neighborhood with lots of dogs).   That being said, she is playing with our other shar pei at the kennel who she knows, so she could be placed into a home with other dogs as long as she gets to be alpha.

Willow is very puppyish and high energy - she'd love a yard or someone that can exercise her.  Willow is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

Melody is 3 years old.  She is a black female shar pei with a short soft and weighs about 50 pounds.

Melody was surrendered by her when he could no longer take care of her.   She is very loving, can pull on a leash and loves her toys and car rides.

She was raised with small dogs, but is not great with larger dogs.  She is very smart and would like an owner that will do some obedience or other physical activities.

Melody is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

Zin is another female that was one of four shar pei confiscated from a breeder.  She is only about 1 year old and she arrived at the shelter pregnant.  The puppy is now being bottle fed and Zin would like her own home.  She has been spayed, is microchipped and up to date on vaccines.    Zin's coat looks poor due to pregnancy hormones and skin infection, but with some love and good food, it should come in beautifully.   She was treated for her skin and an upper respiratory infection (bad cold) and is just about ready for her own forever home.
Zin needs a patient owner that is willing to teach her the basics of home life - stairs, mirrors, walking on a leash.  She is very timid, but sweet.

Chardonnay is a 1-2 year old female fawn horsecoat shar pei.  She was one of 4 shar pei confiscated from a breeder in central California.  It was clear she had never been on a leash before - but she is improving every day.   She had a microeye (born with a very small eye with no vision) so she has had that eye removed and had entropion (eyelid) surgery on the other to make sure her lashes dont rub on her eyeballs/corneas.  Despite having one eye, she is normal in every other way.    She is good with the other dogs she came in with (Zin is her pal).

We'd love to find a home that is willing to work with her and be patient while she learns leash training, basic obedience and all the modern (scary) conveniences of modern life (stairs, mirrors, etc).

Chardonnay is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Mei Mei

Mei Mei is a fawn female brushcoat shar pei - with a black mask.  She is about 7-8 years old.  She is timid at first, but is very friendly with people.  She would prefer to be an only dog in the home.    Mei Mei means beautiful and she is that.   She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

*pending adoption*

Cleo is a 8 month old female black brushcoat shar pei.  She was rescued from shelter and has had both cherry eye and entropion (eyelid) surgery.  Her vision is not great, but she is super smart and compensates with hearing and smell.  She plays well with other dogs (loves to play).  She is housetrained and very very kissy and loving.   Great with kids, adults.  she has also been fostering with a cat.

Salsa is a 5-7 year old female shar pei.  She is very friendly and good with other dogs and people/kids.  Salsa is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.  She was rescued from Las Vegas shelter, but is now in the southern California area.   Salsa had a fractured tooth removed and has already had entropion (eyelid) surgery - she's ready to go!

Paco is a 2-3 year old brindle shar pei mix.  He is very playful and loving.   He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.  He gets along with other dogs well (he prefers the girls to the boys).

*adoption pending*

Wolfie is a male apricot shar pei.   He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.  He is a short horsecoat with beautiful eyes and bone mouth.

Wolfie was raised with kids and is very friendly with dogs and people.   His owners moved and left him behind.   It's time for an upgrade on his owners...could that be your house?  He is currently in California fostering.

Oreo is a 2-3 year old male shar pei mix with wonderful partially flowered coloring (and a purple tongue!).   He is currently in Arizona, looking for a foster or forever home.  He's very polite, appears to be very good with other dogs, rides well in a car and is very grateful and gives kisses to prove it.    Oreo will be neutered shortly, is up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
He is only about 35 pounds!

Nemo is a 7 year old male horsecoat shar pei.
He is recommended to be with same size dogs (he'll chase tiny dogs), is good with kids, dog door trained, shows no aggression when feeding, like to sleep outdoors on chairs and is pretty easy going.  He walks well on a leash and is a happy boy.    Nemo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered.  He is only about 35 pounds.  Perfect for single person or even a family.

Barney is a 4 year old male lilac shar pei.  He is only about 38 pounds (small!).     We believe he is good with other dogs - seems good with big ones, not sure about smaller dogs. Barney needs a strong owner that will be the alpha and give Barney security (otherwise Barney will take charge and wants to protect his person). Barney is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.  He is currently in Southern California and looking for a new home!

Taro is an approximately 3 year old male black brushcoat shar pei.  He is in the southern California area and is a good boy.  We are treating him for an ear infection (he's not fond of people messing with his ears as they hurt) and he is ready to start interviewing his prospective new parents.

Taro is about 50 pounds, is microchipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines.

Percy Jackson

Percy is an 18 month old male black shar pei.  He is timid and scared at first (note tail down in photo taken just after coming out of shelter), but warms up quickly and is a happy playful boy (see video below).

He LOVES to ride in the car (will jump right in), he appears good with other dogs and is not a barker. Percy has gorgeous long legs and is right at 60 pounds.  Happy, funny and playful, Percy is looking for a new home!

Carmela is a 3-5 year old fawn horsecoat female shar pei.   She is a LOVE!  Loves to give kisses and loves people.  She has been very selective with other dogs - shelter video showed her in yard with other dogs, but she prefers to be only dog in her foster home.   She loves toys.

Carmela is fostering in an apartment and would do well in apartment or house.

*adoption pending*

Shannon is a 4 year old fawn female shar pei.  She was rescued from a central California shelter with several (treatable) medical conditions and we are getting her healthy and ready for adoption.   She has had entropion (eyelid correction) surgery and had one eye removed (it was too damanaged).  She is wonderful and loves people and appears good with other dogs.

If you are interested in Shannon, email us at

Winnie is an approximately 4 year old female cream brushcoat shar pei.  She came in from a Phoenix area shelter in need of entropion (eyelid surgery) and what appears to be a broken tail.  Don't tell her she's broken - she's sweet and great with people (we will test with dogs shortly, but all signs are good).

Winnie is small - only 32 pounds - but tall.  She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.

Roxy is a new (approximately 4 year old) female shar pei.  She is very sweet and appears great with kids and dogs.  She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines, prior to adoption.

Mimi is a 5 year old female chocolate shar pei.  She was left at a vet's office after being treated for wounds (looked like maybe harness cut into her sides) and now she's a Pei People girl!  Mimi is high energy when she wakes up and then settles down....she LOVES people and wants to be around them.

She has been to doggy day care and been fine with a pack, but doesn't do as well 1 on 1 with other dogs - she is very dominant and will put another dog in their place.  She will be best as an only dog with a family who is home a lot of the time (she loves the attention).    She is crate trained (but not crazy about crate) and prefers a little canned food on top of her kibble at meals.  She is not a fan of baths, but will go into the water at dog beach (go figure!).  She has shown fear around some men (but doesn't get agressive, she retreats).  She is around 40 pounds.

Mimi is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.  She is a happy girl and would like a forever home!

Sparkles is a new female just in from a southern California shelter.  She is a stunner.  Her eyelids need entropion surgery - which we will schedule.  She is not great with other dogs. (seems pretty young - best guess 2-3 years).

She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.

Penny is a young female fawn shar pei.  She has some skin issues and was severely underweight when we got her out of shelter. She is up to 27 pounds (she will always be small).  She is such as sweet and goofy girl as reported by her foster family.  She has a very puppy-like personality - very playful and happy.  She is crate trained and housebroken.  We are continuing to put weight on her. We believe she needs entropion (eyelid) surgery.

Here is video of Penny (on couch) trying to get others to play!

Penny is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Petey is a cream male shar pei.  He was pulled out of the shelter severely underweight and malnourished.  We have fattened him up and have him stabilized.   He is a happy guy, ready to play - great with other dogs and great with people. Petey is about 2 years old.  He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption.

Maggie is a 5 year old black horsecoat female shar pei.  She was turned into the shelter because her owner moved.  Maggie is very mellow. She rides really well in the car and walks well on leash. She is house trained and doesn't bark at house guests, the mailman or things outside the house.

She is friendly with other dogs and people and will stop to says hello to both while on her walks. She is timid at first but once she feels comfortable and she comes out of her shell, she will give gentle little kisses and will interact with you and want to be pet. She will even come when called.   She can be possessive of her food bowl around other dogs.

Maggie is spayed prior, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

Soozie Q

Soozie Q was surrendered by a shar pei breeder after being over their city dog limit.  Soozie is small - only about 40 pounds - and is very timid.  She'd do best in a family without really small kids (not because she'd hurt them, she would be scared of the fast movements).   Soozie is chocolate brushcoat and is about 2-3 years old.  She is very sweet and submissive.  She is good with other dogs (and would likely do best with another dog that could take the lead).    She prefers women to men (just avoids men).

If you are looking for sweet and shy, Soozie is your girl!

Bevo is a 6 year old cream horsecoat male shar pei.   He was surrendered by his owners who could no longer keep him due to a move.  When we got him he was severely underweight and had suffered since a young age from bowel issues and keeping weight on.  Our vet discovered a B12 vitamin deficiency which made it hard for his body to absorb food/nutrients.  We started supplementing his diet with B12 and put him on easily digestable Rx food and he's gained 9 pounds!  He's now 44 pounds and looking for a good home that will continue his careful diet.

Bevo is good with other dogs, has lots of energy and is playful.  He needs some improvement on a leash (he pulls and zig zags with enthusiasm).  He is not a barker, is crate trained and is totally potty trained.   He loves food and learns quickly  He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Notes from his foster mom:
If you are looking for an easy to own, loving, 110% house trained, bundle of joy, Bevo is your guy.  Bevo has blended into my household with 3 other dogs without a hitch.  He loves walks and we are working on his heeling skills.  He is a quick learner.  Bevo gets along with my other Shar Pei and plays endlessly with my male, Bevo's favorite.  I can leave him in the house without a worry of him doing any harm.  He is just the sweetest boy.  Bevo would do great with another dog or by himself and a human companion.

Ginger & Roger

Ginger (left) is an 10 year old female shar pei/lab mix.  Roger (right) is a 8 year old male shar pei/lab mix.  They are mother and son and were turned in by their owners to the shelter.

They are SUPER RELAXED and calm.  Both are large and happy and would love to spend their day hanging out in a yard.  They like being around people and other dogs.  They don't need a high fence, cause they are happy at home with you!
See their You Tube video by clicking here
These two need to be adopted together.   They have lived the last 8 years together and should enjoy the rest of their years together.

Both are super gentle and sweet.  Both are crate trained, ride well in the car,  are housetrained, and take treaks gently.  They are both well mannered and get along with other dogs and kids.   Both are quiet (not barkers at all) and love to give kisses and curl up with you.

Both are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and full of love!!!

Miss P (also known as Josie)

Josie is a 7 year old female pointer? / shar pei mix.  She was adopted 4 years ago as Miss P.  Her owner had a stroke and is no longer able to care for her, so we are looking for a new home for her.  She is a great happy girl.  She prefers to be an only dog, but is a great loyal companion.    She's gained a little weight from this photo, but we are getting her back in slim shape!

Josie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

*adoption pending*

Jesse is a 1-2 year old male shar pei.  He is good with other dogs and people.   He is neutered, is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

Jesse is currently fostering with multiple dogs (male and female) with no issues.  He loves toys.  He does need a tall secure fence (swear he can jump a 4 foot fence without a thought).

Stella is an approximately 3-4 year old fawn horsecoat female shar pei.  She is about 45, is spayed and has had entropion (eyelid) surgery done while in rescue.   She knows how to "sit" on command, is crate trained and has a sweet personality.

She is very timid right now, but definitely wants to trust - will jump in your lap once she knows you and give kisses.  Walking on a leash is definitely a new thing for her - she is scared and freezes up.  (We will obviously keep working with her and once she gets used to it)   She is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.

Dolly is a lilac female shar pei, age 8-9.  She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.  She was found with another dog (already adopted) and is good with other dogs.

It appears she’s had a rough life and has scars to prove it, but Dolly is a happy girl with a cute personality who likes the wading pool, walks and going for car rides.  She’s active and not a barker, but she does have some kidney issues and is on renal-friendly food and supplements.  Sweetheart Dolly has been waiting for a new home for quite some time and would love to have a loving home of her own!  If you are looking for love, Dolly’s cute face is irrestibile
! Location: Southern California.  If interested in giving Dolly a home, please email:

Noelle is a 2-3 year old isabella horsecoat female spayed shar pei.  She was found as a stray and is super sweet and nice - loves to give kisses.   She is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption.  Most of the time, she is good with other dogs and great with people, but she has shown some signs of frustration in the kennel. We'd recommend a family without small children.  We'd love to find this girl a nice foster or permanent home!

Sally is a bonemouth female shar pei/lab mix.   She is spayed and ready for a new home.  She was a shelter favorite and volunteers brought her to our attention because they thought she was so great!

Sally is 5 years old and is around 48 pounds. She is up to date on vaccines and is microshipped.

Sally is good with other dogs, but does like to play hard.  She would love a dog brother or sister that is active and happy or would be fine as an only dog with an active family.  Sally is super sweet and loves to give kisses and take walks (she is learning some leash manners with our dog walkers).

This handsome boy is Charlie and he is a 70 pound bundle of joy.  He is good with neutral, calm dogs, but would probably do best as an only dog at home (but good on walks, companion for coffee shops, etc).   He is approx 9 years young.  He is tentative around everything at first and clearly was used to having another dog "lead" and he followed.  On his own he can be fearful around new things, but does adjust and warm up to new people.   He walks well on a leash.

He is very comfortable around a swimming pool.   He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption.

Mister is a fawn male horsecoat shar pei.  He is neutered and is 5-6 years old (best guess).   He is very sweet and was rescued from a central California shelter.   He is a bit alpha and would like a strong owner with rules.  He is great on leash - doesn't pull and is fine with other dogs (he's fostering with several other dogs).
