Taro is an approximately 3 year old male black brushcoat shar pei. He was rescued from a Las Vegas shelter and is a good boy. We are treating him for an ear infection (he's not fond of people messing with his ears as they hurt) and he is ready to start interviewing his prospective new parents. His tail is down in this shelter photo (we'll post new photos soon), but it does go up and wag!
Taro is about 50 pounds, is microchipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines.
Duncan is seriously the best dog ever...totally housetrained, calm, walks well
on a leash, rides well in car and gets along nicely with other dogs! He is around 4 years old and is a male lilac brushcoat. He's on the small side and around 30 pounds - he needs to gain a little weight, too. email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Dominic is a 1-2 year old male fawn shar pei. He is about 46 pounds and was surrendered to Pei People after a family member left him and he was relegated to being tied up in the yard (hence the skin issues which we believe will be cleared up with minimal TLC and great food!). He's had a rough start, but don't tell him - he's great with kids and other dogs...
Dominic is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Percy is an 18 month old male black shar pei. He is timid and scared at first (note tail down in photo taken just after coming out of shelter), but warms up quickly and is a happy playful boy (see video below).
He LOVES to ride in the car (will jump right in), he appears good with other dogs and is not a barker. Percy has gorgeous long legs and is right at 60 pounds. Happy, funny and playful, Percy is looking for a new home!
Shannon is a 4 year old fawn female shar pei. She was rescued from a central California shelter with several (treatable) medical conditions and we are getting her healthy and ready for adoption. She needs entropion and may have limited/no vision in one eye. She is wonderful and loves people and appears good with other dogs.
Winnie is an approximately 4 year old female cream brushcoat shar pei. She came in from a Phoenix area shelter in need of entropion (eyelid surgery) and what appears to be a broken tail. Don't tell her she's broken - she's sweet and great with people (we will test with dogs shortly, but all signs are good).
Winnie is small - only 32 pounds - but tall. She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.
Val is a gorgeous chocolate female - on the small side, recently rescued from a central California shelter. Despite her smaller size, she is a big love! She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Sophie is an 11 MONTH old female shar pei mix (maybe german shepherd?). She is a real doll and lover. She is just over 50 pounds and is great with people. Sophie was left in a local Phoenix shelter and is not a Pei People girl, looking for a foster or forever home in Arizona (or beyond)!. Sophie is good with other dogs, but is young and needs someone experienced with multiple dogs for corrections.
Sophie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Buster is an approximately 5 year old, 60 pound, fawn, male shar pei. He lost his home when his owners were evicted and he ended up at a shelter. He was previously neutered and is currently microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Buster is a mellow, laid back, happy, well behaved boy. He knows sit, paw, down and up. He loves belly rubs, rides nicely in a car and walks great on a leash. He loves going on adventures to public places: Petsmart, the park, and outdoor restaurants.
Buster can be a little shy on meeting new people but comes around quickly-in a matter of a few minutes. When he is unsure about something, he looks to the person he trusts for guidance/reassurance. He seems to do well with calm dogs (he just isn't that interested in other dogs) but doesn't seem to like hyper, overeager, in your face dogs. He'd prefer a home without small kids (or at least calm ones).
Buster gets compliments everywhere he goes on his behavior, attitude and gorgeous looks. He radiates awesomeness!
Sparkles is a new female just in from a southern California shelter. She is a stunner. Her eyelids need entropion surgery - which we will schedule and we will find out how she is with other dogs and her age (seems pretty young - best guess 2-3 years).
She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.
Penny is a young female fawn shar pei. She has some skin issues and was severely underweight when we got her out of shelter. She is up to 27 pounds (she will always be small). She is such as sweet and goofy girl as reported by her foster family. She has a very puppy-like personality - very playful and happy. She is crate trained and housebroken. We are continuing to put weight on her. We believe she needs entropion (eyelid) surgery.
Here is video of Penny (on couch) trying to get others to play!
Penny is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Petey is a cream male shar pei. He was pulled out of the shelter
severely underweight and malnourished. We have fattened him up and have
him stabilized (he could still add a couple pounds). He is a happy
guy, ready to play - great with other dogs and great with people.
Petey is 1.5 - 2 years old. He is neutered, microchipped and up to
date on vaccines and ready for adoption.
Maggie is a 5 year old black horsecoat female shar pei. She was turned into the shelter because her owner moved.
Maggie is very mellow. She rides really well in the car and walks well on leash. She is house trained and doesn't bark at house guests, the mailman or things outside the house.
She is friendly with other dogs and people and will stop to says hello to both while on her walks. She is timid at first but once she feels comfortable and she comes out of her shell, she will give gentle little kisses and will interact with you and want to be pet. She will even come when called. She can be possessive of her food bowl around other dogs.
Maggie is spayed prior, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Amanda is a 5 year old black horsecoat female shar pei. She was turned into the shelter because her owner moved. Amanda is housetrained, good with people and is good with other dogs. She is not a barker, rides well in the car and is a really easy pei! She has one front paw that bends at an odd angle and was likely deformed at birth - it cause her no limitations or bother/pain.
Amanda is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Soozie Q was surrendered by a shar pei breeder after being over their city dog limit. Soozie is small - only about 40 pounds - and is very timid. She'd do best in a family without really small kids (not because she'd hurt them, she would be scared of the fast movements). Soozie is chocolate brushcoat and is about 2-3 years old. She is very sweet and submissive. She is good with other dogs (and would likely do best with another dog that could take the lead). She prefers women to men (just avoids men).
If you are looking for sweet and shy, Soozie is your girl!
Emma is a cream 3 year old female shar pei - soft brush coat. A real stunner. She would do best as an only dog in a household, but is fine on a leash around other dogs walking. She is great with kids and adults. Loves attention and is not a barker and is crate trained.
Emma is spayed, has had entropion eyelid surgery already and is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She is currently in the Phoenix area and looking for a new home!
Nemo is a 7 year old male horsecoat shar pei, recently rescued in Las Vegas. he's now in Southern California. He is very sweet, good around other dogs. He walks well on a leash and is a happy boy. He would love a new home for the holidays! Nemo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. He is only about 35 pounds.
He boarded at a local vet for two weeks and he was a vet tech favorite!
Nana is a 9 year old female blue shar pei whose owners took her to the shelter. We can't figure out why - she is great! appears good with other dogs, gives kisses, takes treats nicely.
Here is her foster family's writeup on her.
Hi my name is Nana.. my foster mom calls me Nana-banana, I think its funny
cause i just wag my tail at her. When I first came to live with them, I really
did not care for too much attention, but I soon realized that these strangers
were very nice and give me lots of treats. I also live with 4 foster brothers
and sisters, i'm ok with the slow not so active ones. But the one that my foster
mom calls the Hairy Pei...I snarl at.. she moves to quick for me. I like to be
outside and I am somewhat house trained, I really like the brown soft grass
they have in their living room to tinkle on (mom's working on that)....
I am ok with small children
but I would do better with older slow moving children, my eyesight is not very
good, so until I get to know you I tend to pull away cause I can't see you very
well. I really don't like my collar pulled on either, it scares me. My foster
mom says I will make a great friend to the right family, So all I'm asking is
that I will get my wish for Christmas and get to enjoy what few years I have
left with a loving family I can call my own.
Nala is just over a year old female cream horsecoat shar pei (maybe mixed with something more active and slim). She had a terrible coat when she came to us, but it has almost all grown in with great food and a few meds (she finished them long ago). Nala is good with other dogs and loves people.
Nala is active and goofy/happy. She is long-legged (and looks gangly in her photo - but is lovely). She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
Paco is a 2 year old brindle male shar pei mix. He is a real stunner and a big love - very friendly with everyone. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Paco is happy & playful, good with other dogs. He rides well in a car and is not a barker. He is looking for a foster or forever home.
Paco is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Rebel is an approx 4-5 year old male
black shar pei. He is an AWESOME really mellow, relaxed male. Friendly with everyone, good with other dogs and rides well in a car. Rebel is now on his way to
finding a new forever home! Rebel is neutered, microchipped and
up to date on vaccines. He is a
real happy tail wagger.
Tater is an approx 1-2 year old male horsecoat shar pei. He was found as a stray and appears to never have been on a leash
before. He is crate trained (and loves his crate). He is very energetic and would be a good running partner. He give licks and kisses and paws in your lap - loves attention.
We believe he will do best in a home with an experienced shar pei
owner and a home without kids. He is good with other dogs, and wants to play play play (he has been to doggie day care even). He is not good with cats.
He is super quiet in his crate. He does do some protective barking in yard (if he hears garbage men, neighbors, etc)
Miso is a 4 year old female black horsecoat shar pei. She was recently rescued from a southern California shelter and was severely underweight. She is currently about 45 pounds and is on a bland diet (dog food, not cooked) and takes daily meds to help her digest food properly (not expensive).
She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is perfectly housetrained. She is friendly and quiet. She is really good with other dogs and people. Friendly and a little shy at first, not growly at all.
Sprinkles is a 3 year old female black shar pei. She is very friendly and is looking for a foster or for her forever home. The vet has determined she has no vision at all, so she needs a home that works well (blind dogs do just fine including stairs, doggie doors and other pets). She i up to date on vaccines spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
We need to do some testing with other dogs, but no reason now to think she isn't good with other dogs.
Bevo is a 6 year old cream horsecoat male shar pei. He was surrendered by his owners who could no longer keep him due to a move. When we got him he was severely underweight and had suffered since a young age from bowel issues and keeping weight on. Our vet discovered a B12 vitamin deficiency which made it hard for his body to absorb food/nutrients. We started supplementing his diet with B12 and put him on easily digestable Rx food and he's gained 9 pounds! He's now 44 pounds and looking for a good home that will continue his careful diet.
Bevo is good with other dogs, has lots of energy and is playful. He needs some improvement on a leash (he pulls and zig zags with enthusiasm). He is not a barker, is crate trained and is totally potty trained. He loves food and learns quickly He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Notes from his foster mom: If you are looking for an easy to own, loving, 110% house trained, bundle of
joy, Bevo is your guy. Bevo has blended into my household with 3 other dogs
without a hitch. He loves walks and we are working on his heeling skills. He
is a quick learner. Bevo gets along with my other Shar Pei and plays endlessly
with my male, Bevo's favorite. I can leave him in the house without a worry of
him doing any harm. He is just the sweetest boy. Bevo would do great with
another dog or by himself and a human companion.
Ginger (left) is an 10 year old female
shar pei/lab mix. Roger (right) is a 8 year old male shar pei/lab mix.
They are mother and son and were turned in by their owners to the
They are SUPER RELAXED and calm. Both are large and happy and would
love to spend their day hanging out in a yard. They like being around
people and other dogs. They don't need a high fence, cause they are
happy at home with you!
See their You Tube video by clicking here
These two need to be adopted together. They have lived the last 8 years together and should enjoy the rest of their years together.
Both are super gentle and sweet. Both are crate trained, ride well in
the car, are housetrained, and take treaks gently. They are both well
mannered and get along with other dogs and kids. Both are quiet (not
barkers at all) and love to give kisses and curl up with you.
Both are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and full of love!!!
Josie is a 7 year old female pointer? / shar pei mix. She was adopted 4 years ago as Miss P. Her owner had a stroke and is no longer able to care for her, so we are looking for a new home for her. She is a great happy girl. She prefers to be an only dog, but is a great loyal companion. She's gained a little weight from this photo, but we are getting her back in slim shape!
Josie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
Sing Sing is just under 2.5 years old. She is a black female shar pei and weighs about 50 pounds.
Sing Sing was surrendered by her original owner due to failing health. She was raised with a small dog and has fostered with multiple dogs with Pei People. She has been hit and miss with new dogs and needs slow introductions.
Sing is very loving, can pull on a leash (some training would be a great item for her) and loves her toys and car rides. She was living with a cat also, but admittedly they didn't have a lot of interaction.
Sing is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
Jesse is a 1-2 year old male shar pei. He is good with other dogs and people. He is neutered, is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Jesse is currently fostering with multiple dogs (male and female) with no issues. He loves toys. He does need a tall secure fence (swear he can jump a 4 foot fence without a thought).
Stella is an approximately 3 year old fawn horsecoat female shar pei. She was recently rescued from a southern California shelter. She is about 44 pounds, but needs to gain weight. We are going to get her spayed and have entropion (eyelid) surgery done prior to adoption (that will stop the goopy eyes in this photo). She knows how to "sit" on command, is crate trained and has a sweet personality.
She is very timid right now, but definitely wants to trust - will jump in your lap once she knows you and give kisses. Walking on a leash is definitely a new thing for her - she is scared and freezes up. (We will obviously keep working with her and once she gets used to it) She is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Churchill is an approximately 5 year old male fawn chinese shar pei. He was good boy at the shelter (see shelter video below) and is good with other dogs. He is about 48 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
Below is the video the shelter did of him prior to rescue:
To donate towards Churchill:
Here is what his foster parents say about him: Churchill is a pretty laid back boy. He is the type of guy who would get along
with anyone. He is learning house manners and sits for treats nicely. He learned
to go in through the dog door within an hour, took a bit longer to convince him
to go out. Once he got it he was happy as could be to be able to roam around the
yard freely. He loves walks, and is good on a leash. We think he may be a little
hard of hearing, but it doesn't stop him from being a happy boy! Oh, and he
loves baths! He actually jumped in our tub the first night he was here. Funny
Dolly is a lilac female shar pei, age 6-8. She was already spayed before being found stray. She is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She was found with another dog (already adopted) and is good with other dogs. She is healthy and ready for a new home!
Very happy and active, not a barker, and loves attention.
Noelle is a 2-3 year old isabella horsecoat female spayed shar pei. She was found as a stray and is super sweet and nice - loves to give kisses. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption. Most of the time, she is good with other dogs and great with people, but she has shown some signs of frustration in the kennel. We'd recommend a family without small children. We'd love to find this girl a nice foster or permanent home!
Sally is a bonemouth female shar pei. She is recently spayed and ready for a new home. She was a shelter favorite and volunteers brought her to our attention because they thought she was so great!
Sally is 4-5 years old and is around 48 pounds. She is up to date on vaccines and is microshipped.
Sally is hit and miss with other dogs (sometimes growls at them on walks, other times not). She would do best as an only dog or with a submissive dog in the household. Sally is super sweet and loves to give kisses and take walks (she does need to learn some leash manners!).
This handsome boy is Charlie and he is a 70 pound bundle of joy. He is good with other dogs. He arrived at the shelter with his brother, who was quickly adopted (not a shar pei) and he was very sad. So we decided to make him a Pei People dog where he'd have lots of other friends. Now he needs a new home. He is approx 9 years young. He is tentative around everything at first and clearly was used to having another dog "lead" and he followed. On his own he can be fearful around new things, but does adjust and warm up to new people. He walks well on a leash.
He is very comfortable around a swimming pool. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption.
Mister is a fawn male horsecoat shar pei. He is recently neutered and is 4-5 years old (best guess). He is very sweet and was rescued from a central California shelter. He is a bit alpha and would like a strong owner with rules. He is great on leash - doesn't pull and doesn't care about other dogs.
